Wow, 4 years of marriage to my heart! WHAT A BLESSING! I know that’s not THAT long when talking about forever, actually, our marriage is still in infancy stage in that regard…BUT with life as we know being so short, with marriage being so tough, and with people calling it quits every single day…I celebrate every single second of holy matrimony with my husband. We’ve kind of made a yearly anniversary photo shoot a thing, well not “we” but I did lol. Thank goodness my husband just goes with the flow to make his wife happy. But it’s crazy because literally on the way to our 4-year anniversary shoot is when we found out the news about Kobe Bryant and his beautiful daughter Gianna passing in a helicopter crash. I was in tears driving in the car as we were heading to take pictures. To think Vanessa may have kissed them goodbye that morning for a simple basketball tournament, only to find out later that day she would never see her husband (& daughter) again has truly rocked my world in just the few days since this news was released. Although we say “life is short” time and time again, tragedies (unexpected ones at that) have a way of making that statement so REAL! It truly puts things in perspective, especially pertaining to my marriage. The things we fuss and fight about are so trivial when you think about losing your best friend unexpectedly in such a tragic way.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in these past 4 years is to enjoy one another. Yes, marriage can be tough, but it can also be such a beautiful thing as well. There’s nothing like having that lifelong partner to go through the inevitable ups and downs that life will bring. To know no matter what, your best friend will be there. These past 4 years I’ve lost friendships, jobs, and all the above…but the one thing that has been a constant in my life is my husband (and children of course lol). We fuss, we fight, we get on each other’s nerves, we forgive, we move on, we laugh, and we love hard! The petty things that used to take us days to get over no longer bother us. I’m so proud of the growth we’ve had over the past four years and can’t to see what God has in store for us for years to come! Fight for your marriage you guys. Don’t give up so easily. It’s SO worth it! Happy Anniversary my Love. Here’s to 100 more!!!
For this year’s anniversary shoot I wanted to do something different. We usually go for your typical formal look. I’ll do a long gown and he’ll do some type of suit. But we’ve done that time and time again, and we just did that look for our family holiday pictures. So I told my photographer that I wanted to do something different and she was actually the mastermind behind this “Cuban” themed photo shoot. She said she knew of a location that gave the Havana Cuba vibe and thought it would be nice to shoot there. It was this super cute Tex-Mex spot in Houston, Last Concert Cafe. I’m so in love with how this shoot turned out. I linked my dress, flower, and hubby’s hat here. All from Amazon! 😊 If you’re a couple that doesn’t take pictures often, I encourage you to snap a picture each year for your anniversary, even it’s not a full-blown professional shoot. It’s going to be SO cool to look back at pictures of us and how we’ve changed over the years. I actually plan on printing them all out and putting them in a photo album. How awesome will that be for our kids to have for years and years to come. Enjoy some of my favorite shots from the shot below! Photography: Creative Sparks Image
As Always…Love you All,
