Carrington’s First Week of 2nd Grade School Clothes Round Up!

Welp, just like that… summer is over, school is back in, and Carrington has already completed her first full week of second grade. I just cannot believe how fast time is flying. I feel like I’m going to blink, and she’ll be heading off to college. Ugh, let’s not even talk about it ha! With it being back to school time, you know what that means mama’s…SCHOOL SHOPPING! Although I love to shop (there’s no shock there lol), school clothes aren’t my most favorite thing to shop for. A big reason being I can’t go in the stores and buy up all the cute and trendy clothes. I have to not only consider style, but most importantly if the clothes are comfortable and school appropriate (inserts eye roll). I was that amateur mom when Carri first started kindergarten, who would send her little girl all decked out to school, only for her to come home looking…ummmm let’s just say, not how she looked when I dropped her off…honestly, A HOT MESS! Carri would also come home with letters from the P.E. teacher saying she needed to wear tennis shoes to school for P.E. and recess. Oops! I didn’t realize her cute summer sandals and fall ankle boots weren’t the best option to run around the playground haha! But now after two full years of public school, I’ve finally mastered sending her to school cute but still school appropriate as well. Me being me, I like for all of my girls to still look presentable when they leave the house…even if they are just going to daycare and public school! And FYI, I don’t buy a bunch of clothes at once for back to school. I typically will buy 1-2 weeks’ worth and just continue to buy throughout the year. So I figured I would do a first week of Carri’s school outfits round up, to give you guys an idea of the type of looks I send her to school in. Hopefully it’ll help you all out when school shopping for your little ones.

Let’s jump right in:

Ever since kindergarten, I’ve gotten a personalized “first day of school” t-shirt made for Carrington with her name and grade level on the shirt. I will continue to do this until she puts a stop to it haha. This year’s first day shirt said, “Little Miss Second Grade.” I paired it with a cute pair of destressed Old Navy jeans and classic white Chucks.

With this outfit, I first spotted the shoes. I thought they were SO cute. Me and my girls have been living in mustard yellow since the winter and I still haven’t let it go yet. After purchasing the shoes, I found this cute but casual tee to match, the adorable Bermuda style jean shorts, and the big yellow bow was just the icing on the cake! This is probably my favorite look from her first week, outside of her 1st day of school outfit just because I love this color so much.

If you haven’t noticed yet, polka dots are back in style for girls and women and I’m completely here for it! I love all things polka dots. When I spotted this cute but casual black and white polka dot t-shirt, I just knew I had to get it for Carri. The black leggings I paired it with had a cute little cut-out design on the bottom that you can’t see. And I love these black and white slip on sneakers that I put with the outfit!

Now, I LIVE for a fab jumpsuit. When I saw this cute olive-green jumpsuit, I had to get it for Carri. Such a cute color for the upcoming fall as well. I paired it with some glittery gold slip on tennis shoes, and a big glittery gold bow. I will mention with jumpsuits, make sure your child is to the age where they can get in and out of them easily to use the restroom during the school day. Carri is finally to the age where she can unbutton and rebutton this jumpsuit with no issues.

Another one of my favorite fall staples are plaid shirts. I’ve already bought Carrington a couple for school but this particular one, paired with these cute mauve leggings, was a really cute combo. I brought back her classic chucks with this look. You can never go wrong with investing in a pair of classic chuck taylor tennis each year, because they just go with everything!

All the hair bows are from my favorite hair bow shop that’s in two local malls here in Houston. It’s called Ladies Hair & Accessories. They have a kiosk shop in both Katy Mills Mall & Memorial City Mall. They have ANY color bow you can think of! I’ve been shopping for the girl’s bow here for years!

I hope this helps you mama’s out when it comes to shopping for school clothes for your babies. We can still send our children to school cute while making sure they are comfortable at the same time.

As Always…Love you All,

Courtney N. Williams
